Making Vintage Bobbins

Making Vintage Bobbins

In an attempt at sorting my sewing room, I discovered these gorgeous bobbins. With a bit of left over wood and the odd piece of dowel, wood stain, paint and stamps - my own vintage bobbins.

I used what I had, but you could use a thinner piece of pine and make your doweling longer for wider width ribbons.  You could choose to fill the screw holes or simply stick something over.  There really are no rules. Drilling out tops took a bit of elbow grease and screwing them in straight was best done with help of a vice, and sanding the edges was good option.

Simply add your paint, vintage stamps and wax or vanish to finish.  Such Fun.

Now for the fun part, decorating with ribbons, laces and all things pretty. The ideas are endless - view my Pinterest board for more ideas.
